July 16, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin

Cory Monteith’s passing rocked Hollywood this weekend. The young actor was just 31-years-old and his future — both in showbiz and in his personal life — seemed bright. However, for years, Monteith had been struggling with addiction and now it looks like that may have been what ultimately took his life.

E! News has released a new report that claims “numerous amounts of alcohol” and other unidentified substances were found in Monteith’s hotel room on Saturday afternoon after his body was discovered by a staffer.

The previous night, Monteith was out with several friends and reportedly visited two night clubs in the area. Although a source claims that he was drinking while he was out, they also say that it wasn’t an substantial amount. ”He had recently been drinking alcohol, but not to the extent there was any alcohol poisoning kind of impact,” the source states.

While Monteith wasn’t an alcoholic, drug addicts are recommended to steer clear of consuming alcohol because it often leads to lapses in judgement which could mean drug use.

In addition to his Friday night outing, Monteith was also spotted with friends a week before his death and while he had no drink in hand, one of his friends was suspiciously holding two, seeming to hint that they may have been trying to avoid any media attention on Monteith’s alleged drinking.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place at some point today, but as far as the toxicology report goes, that could take weeks which means that if drugs did play a part, no one will no for sure until then.

Shortly before he died, Monteith and his girlfriend Lea Michele had made plans to move in together. An Us Weekly source states that he and Michele “weren’t talking engagement or marriage yet but it was heading that way.”
