Cory Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on Saturday afternoon after a night out with friends the night before. The actor, 31, had been battling his addictions for years but unfortunately, he wasn’t able to overcome his demons and it has now been confirmed that his death was the result of a drug overdose.

Hours ago, the toxicology results were released, revealing that Monteith’s death was caused by a mixture of drugs including heroin and alcohol.

“There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith’s death was anything other than a most-tragic accident,” the report states. “Mr. Monteith’s family has been made aware of the circumstances surrounding the death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.”

While Monteith never really touched on what it was that he was addicted to, he previously told press that he tried anything and everything and as much of it as possible.

Just three months ago, Monteith entered himself into a rehab facitlity to address his addiction issues. Since then, he had seemed healthy and happy and he and his girlfriend Lea Michele were planning to move in together.

The loss of Monteith adds to the long list of Hollywood stars taken too soon. It’s devastating to see such young, talented people get caught up in the deadly disease of addiction. Hopefully, this will serve as a reminder that addiction is a very serious issue that needs to be treated regularly.
