“Crazy Landlord Cathy Tretola” Video: Woman Falsely Crying Rape Goes Viral

A video went viral over the Labor Day weekend. The original video appears to have been posted on July 15, 2012 by YouTube user “mikearment” who has since made it private. The original was copied to several other accounts from whence it has spread to message boards and forums.
In the video, a tenant living in what’s been identified as Brookside Manor of Quincy, MA records part way through a verbal altercation. Incidentally, Brookside Manor is rental accommodation marketed as “first class accommodation… if your stay is too long for a hotel but too short for an apartment.” (its website, its Yelp, its Google Plus).
The titular “crazy landlord” is allegedly named “Cathy Tretola” of the same locale in Mass.
Seeming to notice the tenant is holding a recording device/ phone of some kind, the female landlord (accompanied by someone male who’s complicit in her deceit) stops yelling and instead cries rape. It would appear the woman cries the word “rape,” literally, mistakenly believing the tenant’s device is for audio not audio-visual recording. She appears to be trying to frame her tenant by crying rape on his own recording, not knowing that he really has a video camera (or phone with that capability) not just a tape recorder.
The woman can be seen, very suddenly, changing tactics when she’s losing her argument. She whimpers “rape,” while sitting on her tenant’s bed, she pounds on the door while pretending to cry because the tenant supposedly won’t let her leave the rented room. She’s not being harmed nor threatened at that point of the video.
Unfortunately for the tenant, an unidentified white knight (possibly another resident) appears and defends the landlord; asking the first tenant whether he’s harmed the woman who’s still pretending to cry after leaving the room.
And here’s what appears to have been the original video description (discrepancy in the spelling of the landlord’s name is from the original upload which was titled “Cathy Tretola of Brookside Manor, Joe Saccoach and Some Little Guy Trying To Intimidate Me”): ”What you see here is the last 3 minutes of a 15 minute fight. These three forced their way into my room and had me in the corner while Kathy Tretola spouted unsubstantiated accusations, yelling at me to hit her and hit me repeatedly in the arm, chest and neck. At no point did I touch her. Everything changed when I pulled out my camera. At the very beginning of the video you can see Cathy Tretola trying to grab the camera and hitting me. Then she turned into an actor and unsuccessfully tried to make it look like she was the victim. Notice how fake she is trying to act upset and notice how Joe Saccoach and the other guy are acting like they are consoling her. The police were called by me, and they did not believe a word of her story. I can’t wait to have my day in court.”
