Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaves ABC for FOX
After 10 years of co-hosting with some of the best names in the business on the popular daytime show, Elisabeth Hasselbeck will leave ABC’s The View for another daytime talk show on FOX, Fox & Friends, this fall, as a replacement for the current co-host, Gretchen Carlson.
After winning the show Survivor in 2001, ABC brought the notoriously conservative champ on as a host when Lisa Ling left the show in 2003. ABC released a statement saying, “For a decade, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has brought her passion and strong beliefs to ‘The View.’ We matched her journey from newlywed to motherhood, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, author, entrepreneur and activist. She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table never shying away from voicing a difficult question. We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career.”
Today, June 10 was Hasselbeck’s final day as a co-host on The View. Standing arm-in-arm with Barbara Walters, Hasselbeck said, “I’m happy and excited to confirm that I’ll be joining the Fox & Friends team in September.”
Hasselbeck went around the table to Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Walters and sent a message to an absent Sherri Shepard and said some pretty heartfelt things to each of them.
“I just want to leave you with this, thanks … I’m not the first person to sit in this chair and I will certainly not be the last person to sit in this chair. the past 10 years have been nothing short of extraordinary. I wholeheartedly wish the next person or co-hosts that sit here an extraordinary set of years to come of their own,” Hasselbeck said.
