Emma Watson’s Post-Harry Potter Success
June 17, 2013 by Emma Reynolds
Emma Watson recently said in an interview that she almost quit acting after wrapping up the eighth film in the Harry Potter series. But Hollywood, and fans especially, are surely glad she didn’t.
Watson, 23, joins some of Hollywood’s current A-listers in her three hit movies, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, This Is The End and soon-to-be released, The Bling Ring, which have all been scoring her some rave reviews. Not to mention, she had a small role in the much anticipated, My Week With Marilyn.
Watson’s roles in each film are arguably more newsworthy than the films themselves. Watson’s elegance onscreen is portrayed through her daring new roles, helping to erase the stigma of her wizard-playing past. Unlike her costars, Watson, 23, has scored some huge roles in the U.S. that has landed her international fame and an image apart from playing Hermione Grainger. She already has movies booked that are to be released in 2014 under the lead of directors such as Darren Aronofsky and Guillermo del Toro. It may take a few years for fans to recognize her as someone other than Hermione Grainger, but she is one of the least controversial actresses in Hollywood with nothing but a growing international fan base.
Watson attended Brown University that riled up plenty of the school’s students, despite her hopes to keep it somewhat private. It was Daniel Radcliffe that spilled the news to reporters in 2009, forcing her to admit she was attending the American university. She has completed three years thus far, and is currently postponing her degree until further notice to continue work on various films.
Needless to say, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Ms. Watson, both in film and her studies!
