Eric Dane Checks Into Rehab For Addiction To Pain Medication

July 21, 2011 by Hollywoodite

Eric Dane has admitted he’s currently in rehab to curb an addiction to pain medication. The actor is best known for his role on Grey’s Anatomy and his lackluster narration through a non-sex tape leaked over a year ago. So, he got addicted somewhere in between making tapes and making babies since his wife’s expecting again. It’s not that shocking an admission. It’s almost more shocking when someone has no dependancy issues these days.

At least he did the classy thing of going into proper rehab for a discernible amount of time; he didn’t flake out and do the out-patient thing for a couple of days, and he didn’t run to the media the day he went into rehab since he’s been there for nearly a month, and he didn’t do Celebrity Rehab or anything with Dr. Drew’s showboating. Dane went into rehab without telling anyone. He got help. And he only told people days before leaving. At a guess, the only reason for that would be a tabloid found out and threatened to out him. Well, he’s about to be a father of two, so it’s better that he gets the help. His spokesperson went out of their way to confirm the news to the tackiest outlet they could find, in this case Star.

“Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus. He reports back to work next week. Business as usual,”  his spokesperson told Star magazine.

According to friends of the actor, the impending arrival of his second child and filming for Grey’s Anatomy, which resumed yesterday, sprung Dane into action, as he had “far too much to lose.” Moreover, “Eric felt things spiralling out of control and decided he needed to get some help,” the insider told Star. – via The Daily Mail.

That statement was fairly to the point. And it’s better he gets help than get overwhelmed by the new baby and his shooting schedule. According to RadarOnline, Dane entered The Hills Treatment Center, a sober living recovery residence in West Los Angeles, in mid-June. Sources told Star this was just as a “preventative measure.”
