Star: “Cheater” Eric Johnson Overlapped Relationships With Jessica Simpson & Ex-Wife?

This week’s cover of Star Magazine is reaching with its nebulous wording that uses the present tense “cheats” for a story that’s really about the meeting of and start of Jessica Simpson’s relationship with then-married Eric Johnson late-2009 to mid-2010.

The cover of the tabloid says: “Eric Cheats on Jessica: Fiance caught with his ex: Jessica storms out with baby Maxwell; Pals plead with Jess: Don’t marry him; She cries: ‘I’ll never trust you again.’” None of those things ever happened, her friends never said that, and Simpson never said that because Johnson, judging from the timelines, didn’t cheat. At most, there may have been an overlap of when his divorce came through and his dating Simpson, but he appeared to have been long-estranged from and in the process of divorcing ex-wife Keri Johnson when he met Simpson.

Jezebel.com notes: “ Eric Johnson was with his then-wife, Keri, when he met Jessica Simpson at a party in 2009. The marriage was already on the rocks. Wikipedia says they split in October of 2009; Eric filed for divorce in January 2010; and began dating Jessica in May 2010… But! According to this mag, Eric is a “two-timing cheat” who was still having sex with Keri after he started seeing Jessica. An insider says Jessica found out about this in late September when a friend made a joke about Eric hooking up with his ex while dating Jessica. ‘After the friends left, Jessica asked Eric if it was true, and she blew up after he admitted to it.’ Wait, if all the friends left, who is the source on this story? A sofa cushion? Anyway, Jessica took her baby and ‘stormed off’ to her mother’s house, because that’s the only way angry celebrities can exit a dwelling.”

There was no cheating and she obviously didn’t take their kid and leave over this fabrication either.
