Evelyn Lozada Reaction Statement To Chad Johnson: He Needs Help

The incidentals about what happened, when it happened, and who assaulted whom first, have changed significantly from the first local reports.

It was initially reported from a local newspaper that newlywed Evelyn Lozada confronted husband Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson after dinner together, Saturday night, when she found a receipt for condoms in the center console of their car.

However, yesterday, after some digging, TMZ Live claimed Lozada found the receipt earlier in the day while on her way home from the grocery store and she asked Johnson to talk in their car so the young kids in their house would not hear them argue (good for her, not fighting in front of the kids).

In either case, the verbal fight turned physical and she ended up injured worse after calling 911 from a neighbour’s house so police took only Johnson into custody for domestic violence. Johnson was released from jail the next day, as was Lozada released from hospital with stitches, and Johnson was promptly fired from the Miami Dolphins where he had been wide receiver. Hours after that, VH1 claimed to be pulling the couple’s Basketball Wives wedding spin-off, Ev and Ocho, in light of the allegations although urban blogger SandraRose.com and others are pretty convinced this was a botched publicity stunt and Johnson self-sabotaged for the publicity. And that VH1 will just air the spin-off that’s already been made and paid for once the bad publicity dies down.

And today, Lozada has released a statement denying that she headbutted Johnson, as he claims, and imploring him to seek professional help. Incidentally, Johnson has a history of violence, being arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery against a girlfriend he slapped for her suspected cheating, back in February 7, 2000. At the time, Johnson pled no contest and was found guilty and given 3 years probation and 45 days in L.A. County Jail that was negotiated down to community service on which he procrastinated and stretched over two years earning further sanctions.

Lozada’s statement says: “I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me. It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
