Ex-Disney Star Lee Thompson Young Dead, Suicide Suspected
August 19, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Former Disney star Lee Thompson Young has been found dead at his Los Angeles home of what appears to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The actor, who hit it big when he landed the lead role on The Famous Jett Jackson, was just 29-years-old.
According to TMZ, Young was due on the set of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles this morning but never showed up. When staffers on set called his apartment building to check on him, they were able to reach his landlord who then went to check on Young. Upon arrival, the landlord discovered the deceased body of Young.
Prior to his death, Young starred on Rizzoli & Isles as Boston Police Detective Barry Frost. Although he was probably best known for his popular Disney show which wrapped in 2001, Young was also involved in several other shows including South Beach, The Guardian, Scrubs, and Smallville. Young appeared in movies such as Friday Night Lights, The Hills Have Eyes 2, and Akeelah And The Bee, as well.
Aside from his on-screen roles, Young had been a top student at the University Of Southern California where he majored in Cinematic Arts and graduated with Honors.
From the looks of things, Young was an amazing talent with a promising future. He was in no way struggling with his career. In fact, he didn’t appear to be struggling at all. While many child actors have a hard time establishing themselves as adult actors, Young transitioned smoothly and showed no signs of slowing down.
While the death is being called a suicide by officials, nothing has yet been confirmed.
