EXCLUSIVE Matthew McCann Speaks Out About His Teen Mom 3 Overdose

On the latest episode of Teen Mom 3, Matthew McCann seemingly overdosed on heroin after a long battle with addiction. During the show, Matthew’s baby mama Alex Sekella was seen on the phone, discovering the news that Matthew had been hospitalized and assuming that whatever happened was drug-related. However, according to Matthew, he was in the early stages of bronchitis at the time and his overdose didn’t happen until months later.
As the show aired, Matthew surfaced on Twitter where he informed his fans and followers that things on the show weren’t happening in the order that they did in real life and now, he’s explaining what really happened.
In an exclusive statement to Hollywoodite, Matthew reveals, “I OD’d in April from heroin. But what you see on MTV isn’t accurate. I didn’t OD the day I went to visit the group home and I did in fact tour the homeless shelter.”
Matthew isn’t the only Teen Mom 3 star who has had issues with the way MTV is editing the show. Also on Monday night, Mackenzie Douthit became frustrated at the network for making it seem as if she and Josh McKee went to a rodeo separately after arguing about the event in earlier scenes.
“Im confused,” Mackenzie wrote to fans during the show. “I rode with Josh to that rodeo.”
As fans learned last month, reality show contracts often contain clauses which allow producers to edit footage in whatever way they see fit. So, this likely won’t be the last time Matthew and Mackenzie see some odd edits on the series.
