How Fake Was The Confrontation Between Abe Schmucker & Rebecca Byler?
October 22, 2012 by Hollywoodite
In this weekend’s episode of Breaking Amish, Abe Schmucker proposes to cast mate, and real life girlfriend before the show, Rebecca Byler. Who admits on camera that she’s been married before and, to use Jeremiah Raber’s wording when talking about his own failed marriage, “It didn’t work out.” Raber failed to admit, however, that it “didn’t work out” because he beat and stalked his pregnant-at-the-time wife. And Byler is a little remiss in leaving out the specifics of what went wrong in her own marriage.
TLC previously admitted that, as dedicated Facebook pages have tirelessly worked at exposing, the show’s staged and contrived to cover the fact that the entirely ex-Amish and ex-Mennonite cast left years ago, have been to jail, have been married, have kids, and they aren’t fresh-faced nor lost together in the big city as promoted in an early series synopsis (from which “leaving for the first time” was eventually expunged for being a lie). The cast are real former Amish and real former Mennonite apostates reportedly staging their exits, AGAIN, acting as though experiences like getting a tattoo, owning a cell phone, learning to drive, and drinking are their “firsts.”
And this week’s proposal leaves out the minutiae of what really happened in Byler’s marriage.
She and Rufus L. Hostetler, Jr. filed for their marriage certificate March 22, 2010 after which they got married. However, she cheated on Hostetler with Schmucker, yes the Schmucker from the show, in 2010. And Byler and Schmucker have been a couple, who reportedly have a kid together, since at least October 2010 when Hostetler wrote this on Facebook about his wife leaving: “I am tryn 2 figure out why in th world abe schmucker wud want to b a friend on face book afterall he left wht my wife.”
