All The Fake Reality Show Opening Credits From The Simpsons Season 24 Episode 14
The Simpsons season 24 episode 14, Gorgeous Grampa, began with The Harlem Shake (the one that happens if you type “Do the Harlem Shake” into YouTube and wait a second… not the “real” classic version).
At the start of that episode, Homer Simpson jokes about daughter Lisa Simpson reading a book rather than watching reality television. He says “Writing is for bathroom walls, and acting is for getting out of DUIs. The only reason TV exists is for reality shows about White trash skuzbags doing subhuman made-up jobs.” At which point he starts channel-surfing parodies with names like “Swamp Huffers,” “Autopsy Wars,” “Skunk People,” and “Meth Boss” that ape real shows like Duck Dynasty, Storage Wars etc. and shows like Moonshiners, Amish Mafia, and Buckwild where it’s debatable whether their purported jobs are real or fabricated. Speaking of which, Funny or Die kind of did this already with a video called “I Can’t Believe These Are All TV Shows” about the overuse of words like “Wars” “Flip” and Pawn” in reality show titles and indistinguishable shows on different networks.
Homer’s channel-surfing can be seen below in its entirety for those who missed it.
