Frank Ocean Tears His Vocal Cords and Cancels Australian Tour

It is always a shame when singers with the most beautiful voices have damage done to their vocal cords.

According to Billboard.com, Frank Ocean has decided to cancel the rest of his tour in Australia after a doctor confirmed that he tore one of his vocal cords. The 25-year-old singer knew there was something wrong when he was experiencing severe throat issues and pain last night while performing in Melbourne at Festival Hall, where he opened up the tour. Billboard.com also reported that Ocean’s throat issues were very apparent last night because he was singing off-key. He even told the audience that he was sick while performing his song Forrest Gump, closed the show by thanking them and mentioned that he did not want to speak much (as to not hurt his throat even more).

Now, his July 26th show at Festival Hall, July 29th show at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and July 30th show at Hordern Pavilion have all been cancelled, according to the tour’s promoter Live Nation. Ocean was supposed to perform at Splendour in the Grass, an Australian music festival, on July 28th as well, but will not go forth with doing that either. A spokesperson for Splendour in the Grass claimed that Ocean tearing his vocal cord “is devastating news for the event and will be for many of [the] patrons.” Live Nation also released a statement saying that “it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show,” and that the singer must rest his voice before going back to performing any time soon.

Here’s to hoping that Ocean recovers as soon as possible.
