George Zimmerman Mug Shot: Charged With 2nd Degree Murder Of Trayvon Martin

April 12, 2012 by Hollywoodite

George Zimmerman has been taken in to custody and charged, after handing himself in Wednesday April 11, 2012.

It was announced yesterday afternoon that prosecutors had decided to proceed, although they declined to elaborate on charges many speculated would be manslaughter.

Zimmerman is currently in custody, where he has been booked with the mug shot photo on the left (he’s lost weight since the mug shot  on the right).

The second degree murder charge comes only days after Zimmerman’s lawyers dropped him, because they’d lost contact with him. And shortly after Zimmerman set up a website soliciting donations because he’d been unable to work since the shooting.

Following the killing of Trayvon Martin, 17, on February 26 in Sanford, FL, special prosecutor Angela Corey acquiesced to the public outcry about the lack of justice in the case/ the apparent cover-up/ the nature of the case/ the conspiracy theories.

There’d been such inaction from authorities that people had tried to take justice into their own hands. For example, re-tweeting the address of a random Zimmerman in Florida who was an unrelated, older man whose parents were subsequently harassed by press and neighbours.

Corey announced the charges at the state attorney’s office in Jacksonville, FL where she pledged: “We will continue to seek the truth.”

Zimmerman could be charged $10,000 in fines and he could get life in prison (although who knows how he’ll get a fair trial, with the jury pool so tainted).
