Gia Allemand Autopsy Performed, Funeral Arrangements Made

August 15, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin

Gia Allemand was pronounced dead on Wednesday following a suicide attempt by hanging on Monday night. Allemand’s body was found by her longtime boyfriend, NBA pro Ryan Anderson, but not before she suffered brain and organ failure that later lead to her passing. Earlier today, New Orleans Coroner’s Office Chief Investigator John Gagliano confirmed that an autopsy has been completed and that the body has been released to the family of the former Bachelor star. However, no details regarding the outcome were given.

“Cause of death is not public information in the State of Louisiana unless it is a violent death like a homicide or it occurs in a public place or is a public hazard or health hazard or is an accidental fatality like a car accident,” Gagliano explained to E! News. “We don’t discuss suicides and natural deaths—that is prohibited.”

If any information is given regarding Allemand’s passing, it would have to come directly from the family.

At the time of the interview, Gagliano was unaware if any toxicology tests had been performed, but informed the site that those results are also kept under wraps.

Now that the body is in the possession of the family, they are working hard to prepare her final arrangements. “Gia Allemand’s funeral will take place in New York at the Papavero Funeral Home,” her rep tells E! News. “A date is not confirmed at this time. The funeral will be open to the public, yet no cameras or cell phones will be permitted inside. Many friends from the Bachelor family are expected to be in attendance.”

Since Allemand’s passing, rumors have been flying that Anderson had been unfaithful and that in just one month, she was planning to relocate to New York City where she would live with one of her girl friends.

Hours after her death was announced, Anderson released the following statement to Us Weekly:

“I’m deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends, and fans. Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out, and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile. She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed,” he continued. “All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith, and love that we shared.”
