Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Clothing Line To Further Bastardize Remake
October 27, 2011 by Hollywoodite
The remake of 2009′s Swedish Girl With The Dragon Tattoo with slightly-prettier and more famous people, directed by David Fincher in a copy pasta, will have its own limited edition clothing line. Because what’s a bastardized remake of a film (based on a trilogy of books) without a commercial tie-in that’s semi-related and reduces the butt-kicking Lisbeth Salander character from an anti-hero to a Barbie/ prop/ clothes horse.
Trish Summerville, the costume designer for the American remake of the film, is designing the 30-piece clothing collection. It’s based on dark urban style Rooney Mara’s character wears in the upcoming David Fincher film. H&M says the line of leather jackets, trousers, hoodies and torn jeans will hit the stores December 14. – via TooFab.
Adds Summerville, taking a stab at the American remake and culture of inconsistent attitudes about sex, ”[H&M] were just like, ‘Yeah, she’s Swedish, she’s amazing. We want to be a part of this.’ That was so great to hear, because America has a little bit of a harder time with those kinds of issues. I mean, Americans are fine with violence but they’re like, ‘Sex? Strong women? We’re not so sure about that.’”
