Glee Episode Features Small Town Fair Lawn, NJ Artist Ian Axel

It is with pure glee (pun intended) and pride that I am writing this post!

As a Fair Lawn (New Jersey) High School alumni, this small town girl is proud when good things happen to other Fair Lawnians. (Yes, I just made up that word.) A Glee fan since its premiere, I sang (and sometimes danced) along to every episode. From Britney Spears specials to Michael Jackson tributes, Glee flawlessly integrates musical numbers into each episode’s plot. Most of the time, Glee features very well-known artists, so it’s very exciting to see an independent band receive such exposure. Enter: Fair Lawn, NJ.

Last night’s episode featured an original track by A Great Big World, an independent pop music duo. Their song This Is The New Year was performed by New Directions and gives Ian Axel, the aforementioned Fair Lawnian, an official claim to fame.

On his Facebook page, Axel posted, “Just wanted to say how much I love and appreciate you guys. It’s been a crazy ride over the last few years, and I couldn’t have gotten to this point without you all. Beaming huge amounts of love through this Facebook post!”
