Heidi Klum & Seal: Do They Have A Prenup? Is Divorce The Next Step?

The first question asked upon TMZ.com’s exclusive divorce story was “Do they have a prenup?” Today, people are speculating in an attempt to, honestly, gauge how nasty the divorce may become with money involved. Especially considering that Seal is reportedly jealous of wife Heidi Klum’s fame and fortune.
The divorce papers have not been filed. Yet. However, the couple has confirmed their separation and sources for TMZ.com and Page Six concur that the estranged couple will no longer be living together.
Seal has been preparing to move out of the marital home he shared with Heidi Klum “for weeks,” sources tell us.
The couple, who on Sunday night admitted they were separating after six years, have been going through a “rocky period,” sources said. They’re believed to have fought while spending the holidays in Aspen, and Seal has since been looking for a new place. – via NY Post’s Page Six.
Although sources conflict on whether this separation is a precursor to divorce, reports seem to agree that there IS a prenup and Klum has been interviewing divorce lawyers.
P6 were first to report that Klum met with divorce lawyers last week. Today, TMZ.com adds that Klum interviewed several lawyers over the last two weeks. She’s selected one of the contenders and has, says the report, decided to file.
Life & Style’s sources claim the couple has a prenup: “Yes, there is a prenup. In 2005, when they got married, the career situation was a bit different. Heidi has really had way more success than Seal since then,” said a source who acknowledged that Klum initiated the split. “She was the one to hire the attorney. She wanted to be in charge and make sure that he knew that she was leaving him.”
E! Online also speculate that, in all likelihood, there is a prenup.
“Heidi comes from Germany, and prenups are really common there,” says Steve Mindel, managing partner at Feinberg, Mindel, Brandt and Klein. “Seal is a British citizen. Until recently, that country disfavored prenups, but given the statures of these two people, you have got to believe that their business managers were telling them they have got to have a prenup.”
“Heidi Klum has been making tens of millions of dollars a year for quite a few years now,” Forbes staff writer Zack Greenburg tells… E! News. “She is diversified and has a bunch of different six-figure revenue streams that are going to ensure that she continues to make millions a year for the foreseeable future.” – via E! Online.
The couple tried to work it out, but Seal’s reported anger issues killed the marriage: “They holed up for 48 hours and tried to make it work, but they couldn’t,” added the source at L&S.
