Heidi Klum & Seal Confirm Separation With Statement: What Went Wrong?

Heidi Klum and Seal have confirmed their split, following weekend reports about what went wrong and who was to blame.

The estranged couple released a joint statement, first to People.com then to Us Weekly, RadarOnline.com and others: “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

TMZ.com were the first to report marriage troubles and others belatedly followed, sounding salty about being scooped on such a big exclusive. TMZ add today that Seal’s aggression around the children and Klum’s more-successful career caused marital issues. Page Six concurs that Klum wants a divorce and has met with a divorce lawyer with the intention to file soon.

There were lots of bogus reports this weekend from People and Us Weekly, whose sources claimed the marriage was intact. The UK’s Mirror newspaper also claimed that Seal’s drinking and partying caused issues. However, those claims were unfounded.

The couple were last on the red carpet together at Halloween. Their last Twitter picture was December 26 during a tumultuous Aspen vacation. Klum walked the Golden Globes red carpet alone a week ago.
