Hilary Duff $100,000 Fee For Not Appearing In Bonnie & Clyde Movie

A clause in the Bonnie & Clyde contract for Hilary Duff protected her after she was fired for getting pregnant.

It was first reported by TMZ.com that Duff was fired because her pregnant caused a scheduling conflict with the Bonnie & Clyde movie. It seemed to be a pretty raw deal and the website advised she consider a lawsuit because of the obvious reason for her firing. The movie  had been in talks/ pre-production since the announcement of her casting in early 2008. But the month of her pregnancy, Duff was fired. Ick. Yeah, it was pretty crummy but production sources said the shooting was impossible to push back.

Well, Duff probably doesn’t care because she gets paid anyway. In an update to their earlier story, TMZ shares that Duff has a severance clause. She’s paid for being fired. After being fired for being pregnant.

A preggo Hilary Duff scored a GIANT golden parachute after getting dumped from the new Bonnie and Clyde movie: a severance deal worth $100,000… all for doing nothing.

Sources close to production tell TMZ, it’s all in Hilary’s play-or-pay contract. If for some reason, production decides to terminate the actress’ employment they’ll cough up the six-figure sum to compensate her.

As we previously reported, Duff was dropped from the flick after she got knocked up. We’re told the search is still on for a Bonnie replacement. Amanda Seyfried was approached to fill the role, but she turned it down.

Over the weekend, Duff was volunteering at the Los Angeles Mission’s 75th End Of Summer Block Party, when we asked about the situation. Duff told TMZ, “I dont wanna give them any more press than they’ve already gotten off me… I think [my] baby is a little bit more exciting.” – via TMZ.

Pretty sweet deal? Or poor compensation?
