Hilary Duff Fired From The Story Of Bonnie & Clyde For Getting Pregnant?

August 22, 2011 by Hollywoodite

According to a new report, Hilary Duff was effectively fired for becoming pregnant.

It was first reported February 2009 that Duff was the likely choice to play the titular lead female role in The Story of Bonnie & Clyde. Then there was some ridiculous back and forth between Duff and Faye Dunaway upon the advent of Duff’s casting. Dunaway, who starred with Warren Beatty in the 1967 original movie, was quoted in The Chicago Sun-Times as saying, “Couldn’t they at least cast a real actress?”

In response, Duff stooped to Dunaway’s level, saying, “I think that my fans that are going to go see the movie don’t even know who she is, so you know, uh, I think it was a little unnecessary but I might be mad if I looked like that now too.”

Umm…

Well, now the children have put away the toys they were throwing, Duff’s been fired. Oh, yeah, that. According to TMZ.com, Duff was fired because the pregnancy she announced on her one-year wedding anniversary caused a scheduling conflict. She’s in her first trimester, one can assume. And shooting for the movie begins this Fall. Bonnie’s not going to be pregnant in the movie then.

Hilary Duff just learned a cold, hard lesson… Hollywood’s not hiring a lot of pregnant women to play legendary bank robbers … which is why she just got dropped from The Story of Bonnie and Clyde.

Duff was supposed to play Bonnie Parker in the upcoming film… but sources involved in the production tell us they’re moving forward sans Hilary; a decision that was made right after Hil broke her baby news last week.

We’re told the director is already shopping for a new Bonnie, and the split was amicable. As one source put it, “Hilary won’t be available until next June. If we could wait we would.” Shooting is scheduled for this Fall.

If prego Duff isn’t cool with the switch this could be another Tylo Hunter situation; the actress who won a $4.8 million judgment when pregnancy cost her a Melrose Place role.

Hilary’s rep has not returned calls.

Side note: producers are also looking for a new Clyde due to scheduling conflicts with Kevin Zegers. We’re assuming he’s not pregnant. – via TMZ.

This things’s been in pre-production since 2009. They probably could have waited a few more months. It sounds like a passive-aggressive way to get rid of her… and score a potential lawsuit if the report of it being amicable is untrue. They basically fired her for being pregnant. Or, at least that’s the effect. If she weren’t pregnant, she’d probably still have the role. Should she sue?
