Catfish Season Two Premiere Date & Hooked On Catfish: The Road To Season 2 Special Episode
May 22, 2013 by Hollywoodite
Catfish: The TV Show was renewed for another season back in December, following a successful first season (and movie) that turned “Catfish” into a pseudonym for a person who fabricates an online personality for the purpose of deceiving a paramour.
“Catfish: The TV Show has truly captured the zeitgeist of the digital dating age,” said Dave Sirulnick, executive vice president of MTV multi-platform, in a statement. “The show has resonated with our audience by portraying the real life journeys of individuals trying to navigate the highs and lows of online dating -– an experience our viewers can relate to. We are thrilled to bring the show back for a second season, and look forward to the fascinating stories that only Nev and Max can uncover.”
Season two will have 16 episodes. MTV has subsequently confirmed the premiere date for season two as Tuesday, June 25 at 11 p.m. ET.
In addition, there will be a 30-minute special episode called Hooked On Catfish: The Road To Season 2 that airs on Monday, June 17, at 12 a.m. ET. The special will focus on what’s to come in season two including an engaged couple who are strangers and an Iraq vet’s “mystery love.”
The series caused controversy in season one for purportedly showing lovelorn singles deceived by catfish, when the show was really fabrication, manipulation, and misrepresentation.
