Breaking Amish Iva Facebook Photos Prove She Left The Amish & Moved To New York City in 2011?

Earlier today, the cast photos and bios for season two of Breaking Amish were revealed to include at least one familiar face. Iva, 19, from season one, who portrayed Jeremiah Raber’s onscreen love interest.

The veracity of their supposed relationship was quickly called into question because the entire show was completely scripted and contrived. And in the case of this relationship, it was suspected Iva, her real name, was actually an actress playing a role.

According to reports back in October 2012 when Iva first appeared on season one alongside Jeremiah—they claimed to have been together for two years, Jeremiah being in his 30s, and considered marriage—the relationship was not only outed as fake but (apparently) implausible because Jeremiah is divorced and a young Amish girl would NEVER consider dating nor marrying a divorced Amish guy as it’s so frowned upon.

Later, XAmishAtheist interjected with Iva’s personal Facebook photos. Citing those as anecdotal evidence that Iva MAY not currently be part of the Amish community because she wears “English” clothes. She is wearing non-Amish clothes in these Facebook photos, the photo in a bar having been taken in New York City in December 2011.

However, as confirmed by PEOPLE.com today, TLC is pretending she left the community in 2013 to start a new non-Amish life in Los Angeles (and she’s wearing Amish clothing in today’s promo photo).

Remember that tear-jerking scene in Episode 1 of Breaking Amish, where Jeremiah and his Amish girlfriend [Iva] break up? Maybe one reason the two didn’t display much emotion, is simply because they never did love each other. New evidence suggests that this scene is just another staged scene.

A source was kind enough to send… a link to an Iva’s Facebook page. The Iva depicted in the photos on that page appears to be the same Iva shown on Breaking Amish. The source also said that Iva has always lived in Pennsylvania and never in Holmes County, Ohio where the scene was supposedly filmed. On the Facebook page, I found a lot of photos dating back to 2011 in which Iva isn’t dressed Amish. I think it’s reasonable to believe that Iva also left the Amish some time before filming began.

The images of Iva in addition to anecdotal evidence given by various sources, I believe, is reason to question the authenticity of the relationship between Jeremiah and Iva. – via XAmishAtheist in October 2012.

Incidentally, Iva is confirmed as being from Pennsylvania in the bio published by PEOPLE.com today: “Iva, 19, from Pennsylvania: Her parents divorced when she was young and her father left the community while her mother stayed. Iva has explored life outside the Amish in the past, but has never before been able to make it work.”

So, Iva probably left the community before 2011 and has been from her native Pennsylvania to New York City in that time living as a no-longer-Amish person. And, yet, TLC claims she’s still Amish and leaving to move to Los Angeles with the rest of the season two cast?
