Jane Lynch Officially Files for Divorce from Wife Lara Embry
July 13, 2013 by Mike Siegel
Jane Lynch may or may not be full of glee now that she has officially filed for divorce from her wife Lara Embry.
According to TMZ, the 52-year-old actress has recently filed divorce documents in LA County Court, quoted with a reasoning of “irreconcilable differences.” Lynch met her now ex-wife 44-year-old psychologist Lara Embry at a fundraiser in San Francisco, CA in 2009 and married her a year later in Massachusetts. The former couple had then registered for a domestic partnership in California after their marriage, TMZ reported. What a shame!
The divorce document states that Lynch and Embry have been separated since this February. It also lists that there are no minor children, and issues of custody or child support will clearly not be addressed. Lynch put in the document that she also wishes to end the court’s legal power to give Embry spousal support. What a bummer. The former couple does not have a prenup, sources close to the two confided to TMZ; as a result, Lynch and Embry will be expected to split all of their “marital assets” in half. The official determination of how the former couple’s assets will be divided is going to be decided at a later date, TMZ added. However, since they are residents of California, which is a “community property state,” it is more than likely that the women will end up dividing them 50/50. Even if one of the two gets the shorter end of the stick, it is likely that it won’t be that huge of an issue, as the two are very successful in what they do.
