Reports: Jennifer Aniston Is “Happy” For Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

There were several stories this weekend about how Jennifer Aniston reacted to the engagement news.
Sources, who we can safely surmise are Aniston’s own reps, claim that Aniston is over her marriage to Brad Pitt. She’s fine with him moving on. She’s happy for Angelina Jolie. She’s even inviting herself to the wedding (see below). She’s fine, get it? EVERYTHING IS FINE. Yeah, whomever is leaking these stories is trying too hard. And it’s leaving Aniston looking like a bitter Betty, who’s still stewing about Pitt seven-years-later. It’s been that long since their marriage floundered, amid the probable emotional-affair on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith. It’s been long enough that Aniston is embroiled in a suspiciously-timed affair all her own, with the break-up of Justin Theroux and Heidi Bivens. And yet, here we are. Parsing Aniston’s reactions because the source claims are so full of try: trying not to sound pressed, trying not to sound bitter, trying to sound over it, trying to sound happy. SO HAPPY.
This weekend, withing hours of the breaking news, HollywoodLife.com outdid itself with this: “Jennifer is happy for Brad and Angelina. She is so in love with Justin, that she is really grateful how things turned out. In a strange way if it weren’t for Angelina, Jennifer would not have connected with Justin in a romantic way. Jennifer is in a really wonderful place right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if she even went to their wedding.”
And today, E! Online throws in its two cents. A source tells the website: “She doesn’t care. She really doesn’t. She’s happy with Justin [Theroux]. She’ll probably marry him. She’s moved on. People don’t want to believe it, but she has. She was happy and hanging out with her man.”
E! Online also makes the point that the tabloids are going to ignore these protests and exclaim that Aniston is jealous, devastated, bitter; that she’s the real crux of the story, that the couple is marrying to spite her.
Any guesses how this will be spun? How about…
* In Touch Weekly: Another tedious split screen cover, with photos of Jolie, Pitt, and Aniston, in that order. With some asinine subheadings about Jolie being scheming, Pitt being caught in the middle, and Aniston being beaten to the altar.
* Life & Style: They already released a story about the proposal, so they may just give this a perfunctory inset mention, while giving the Kardashians a pity cover.
* Star Magazine: Again assuming the Kardashians don’t oust the engagement, this would be where some allegations of an affair arise. Aniston is phoning Pitt, Jolie in a jealous rage, is the wedding off? Something convoluted. Something s**t-stirring.
* Us Weekly: Already spent the weekend digging through the scraps, so what could be left? Speculative baby news? Speculative details on the wedding location and the dress designer? A retrospective of designers and jewellers with whom Jolie has worked before? A look back at the Jolie-Pitts (they did this online already)? A comparison of the girls’ rings (they did this t00)?
* OK! Magazine: Will claim “WE TOLD YOU SO!” As though broken clocks aren’t right twice-per-day. They guessed right, but only because they’ve been dragging out their laboured lies out since 2005.
