Us Weekly: Jennifer Aniston “Cried” When Justin Theroux Proposed; “Why She Said Yes”

Again, it was probably foolish of People Magazine to release the statement on Sunday, about Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux getting engaged, without immediately publishing their cover. Or, instead, leaving their cover to land on Wednesday by which time competitors (left with no time to update their own covers) would be made moot by this exclusive.

People.com released the statement a few hours after it was erroneously rumoured that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would get married. Aniston and Theroux waited until after the Olympics, but before the other tabloids closed their covers for the week. And now Life & Style Magazine and Us Weekly Magazine get to share the exclusive as if their own. And People is usurped with its own timing (possibly the choice of the couple, not People, to gain maximum publicity).

In any case, Us Weekly probably has the second most accurate details on the proposal. Apparently, Aniston cried. The cover says: “Why She Said Yes. Getting Married. Jen’s tears! The gorgeous ring! The inside story of Justin’s romantic proposal. Brad and Angelina’s wedding day is just weeks away.”

Tears of joy! To ask for Jennifer Aniston’s hand in marriage, Justin Theroux chose a very special day (Friday Aug. 10, his 41st birthday) and a very special place: NYC, where the free-spirited couple have spent countless hours together.

After the actor-and-screenwriter presented her with the ring, “Jen cried,” a confidante tells the new Us Weekly, out now, adding that Theroux’s proposal was “simple.”

To celebrate the engagement, the freshly engaged pair headed to Blue Hill, an acclaimed Greenwich Village eatery just steps away from Theroux’s downtown NYC apartment, where he and Aniston, 43, have dined before.

It’s the happiest ending imaginable for the Wanderlust costars, who have been dating for a year and a half.
A rep for Aniston confirmed the joyous news to Us late Sunday; Theroux’s rep added in a statement, “Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage.”
