Jennifer Aniston Engaged: Justin Theroux Proposed To Jennifer Aniston
August 13, 2012 by Hollywoodite
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux got engaged, for real, this weekend. Theroux’s rep confirmed the engagement with a statement to People.com, which probably means People Magazine will use the exclusive for its cover this week (also, People.com released the statement Sunday evening, too late for competing supermarket weeklies to leech off the exclusive): “Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday,” said the rep, “receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage.”
This will be Aniston’s second marriage. She and ex-husband Brad Pitt got divorced in 2005. And it’s the first marriage for Theroux, who left a 14 year relationship with a live-in girlfriend right before dating Aniston.
Get ready for the tabloid fallout on Wednesday, because the European tabloids were convinced Angelina Jolie would marry Pitt August 11. Contrary to speculation, no, Jolie and Pitt did not hold any kind of wedding ceremony or anniversary ceremony for his parents on their property, much to the chagrin of paparazzi flown over for the occasion. People.com and X17Online.com explain the washout.
Multiple sources tell People there is no wedding this weekend (reps did not respond for comment.) Local newspaper Var Matin also shot down a France 3 TV report of a Saturday wedding. And officials in the village say they don’t know anything about it and that it likely couldn’t happen anyway.
“Under French law couples have to get married at the town hall,” Patrick Mareschi, deputy culture secretary of the nearby village of Correns, tells Reuters. “Unlike with a religious wedding, there’s no way a couple can hold a civil ceremony at their own home.”
Which is pretty much what the photo agency X17 found out. It grumbled on its website: “We sent an X17 photographer all the way down to the south of France, it’s pretty much in the middle of nowhere, to check out Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s chateau Miraval to see just what’s going on and… there’s NOTHING going on!” the site says.
Not only did its photographer not find any signs the couple, engaged last spring, were tying the knot… no security guards, no party planners… it didn’t even see evidence of other rumors that Pitt was hosting a wedding anniversary party for his parents. – via People Magazine.
