Jennifer Aniston & Paul Rudd’s Wanderlust Box Office Bomb

February 27, 2012 by Hollywoodite

Jennifer Aniston spent the promotional trail for Wanderlust doing two things 1) promoting her relationship with Justin Theroux although he’s a little more gun-shy with the reciprocal namedropping 2) promoting the film’s nudity; suggesting the film was a bore that had nothing else going for it (Love & Other Drugs was also a clusterf**k of “What did I just watch?” following a sex-laden promotional trail that served only to distract from the bait-and-switch pulled between the trailer and the feature).

Wanderlust began promoting its nudity last year and Aniston’s talked about the topless scene(s), a lot, this month, mostly skimming over whatever substance the film may have had. Evidently, it left people cold because the film died at the box office.

Wanderlust opened at number eight with $6.6 million. By comparison, Act of Valor opened at number one with $24.7 million. Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds debuted at two with $16 million. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island was third with $13.5 million. Amanda Seyfried’s Gone bombed too, opening ninth with $5 million.

In semi-related news, the UK’s Mirror newspaper claims that Aniston recently told friends: “I’ll be married by the end of the year.”
