Jennifer Aniston: TMZ’s Wedding Story Is A “Fabrication… Just Another Lie”

Jennifer Aniston is probably not engaged, nor planning a July wedding, nor scouting for wedding locations in Crete.

Reports spread from TMZ.com, which has been right about every other wedding, separation, and divorce in the past year. It broke the Britney Spears engagement. It broke the Heidi Klum separation. It broke the Demi Moore, Kim Kardashian, and Katy Perry divorces. Harbingers of news. With celebrities like Lindsay Lohan admitting that she checks for legal updates about herself, because it’s quicker than waiting for emails from her lawyers. But, somehow, TMZ was fed bad intel on the nonexistent JustJen wedding that’s been simmering in the tabloids for weeks.

Last month, National Enquirer ran a story about Aniston planning a traditional Greek wedding. With her cousin, Antonis Anastassakis, the supposed named source. GossipCop.com debunked that story. Soon after, Star Magazine ran very similar details also crediting Anastassakis as their source. So, in all likelihood, it’s the same guy who fed TMZ the false lead.

Aniston’s rep issued several denials to the wedding story. Which is a relief, because a reveal by TMZ in this manner would be… unusual and disappointing; lacking even. No People or Us Weekly reveal, with pro-Aniston spoon-fed spin? It all felt too downmarket and random, bare bones and ill-timed, with the lack of conveniently-leaked minutea to parse. If felt like we were being denied good gossip.

* The rep tells Gossip Cop that TMZ’s story is “fabrication” that looks like a “placed ad for the hotel.”

* The rep tells New York Daily News: “It’s just another fabrication!”

* And the rep tells RumorFix.com: “It’s just another lie. She has not been to Greece in years.”
