Jennifer Hudson Sings Whitney Houston Tribute At Grammys 2012
Here’s Jennifer Hudson singing I Will Always Love You in a vocal tribute to Whitney Houston that appends a listicle of public figures we lost this year including Amy Winehouse, Nate Dogg, Etta James and Steven Jobs.
Watching the performance, it’s apparent Hudson is struggling. This is basically a stripped-back version of the rendition she already performed to Houston in person (with Houston standing about five-feet away, no less), at the 2010 BET Awards.
The Grammys executive producer confirmed Hudson’s appearance before the show. A Grammys staffer told The Hollywood Reporter the singer cried through the rehearsal: “[Jennifer was] crying and had to keep pausing. She was having a hard time getting through the song, especially on the second run-through.”
