Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony Split – Fights, Jealousy, Infidelity?

The break-up of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony covers this week’s People. They’re easy targets, as aside from them it’s a fairly slow news week. And this is despite best efforts to bury news of their split on a Friday afternoon; Anthony, specifically, as he released a statement to People out of spite after learning Lopez had worked out a deal with Us Weekly. The magazines will probably have dueling covers this week and they’re the two main outlets for rumours about the separation. They’re pumping sources for information and revealing every tidbit. And, between the two, there’s now something of a clear picture about what’s been happened behind-the-scenes the last 12 months.
Starting with People, their headlines claim “Their Marriage Explodes: The Real Story… Their constant fighting, rumours of infidelity, jealousy issues, what’s next?” Starting with the fighting, it’s pretty well-documented, at this point, that “years of struggling” to make their marriage work led to “heated, horrible fights [and] non-stop arguing.” They reportedly went to marriage councelling in an unsuccessful attempt to fix their marital problems. The rumours of infidelity were probably either claims that Lopez cheated with telenova star William Levy, with whom she co-starred in the I’m Into You music video. Or, the rumours that Anthony cheated with one of his dancers. Who knows, there’s nothing concrete on the cheating front and aside from Levy, who’s denying everything, no one’s talking. Until one of the supposed flings talks to the press, back to jealousy issues.
It’s reported that Anthony’s control issues – confirmed by Lopez’ stylist – extended to his wife’s clothing. He sounds insecure in reports that anything outside of “wife uniform” would send him flying into a rage. He just hated her image and found it unbecoming that a mother would want to be seen as sexy. Lopez became “too sexy and unbecoming for a 41-year-old mother of two,” sources tell People. “[Marc] would make her feel terrible about herself if she wanted to wear something sexy… He likes her to dress in a demur… style. He hated the fact that she was a sex symbol… Marc has always been a very dominating husband. He wants to control everything Jennifer does” (that’s an amalgamation of three sources repeating the same thing to People with different wording, basically). It’s all pretty tragic and their babies are in the middle. The kids are reportedly with their mother right now, and the statement released to People suggests that custody has been worked out.
