Jenny McCarthy In Talks To Replace Joy Behar On The View
Next month, Joy Behar will be leaving The View. Rumored to be filling her shoes is model/actress Jenny McCarthy. McCarthy has guest hosted the show several times and according to reports, the cast is extremely fond of her and ready to bring her aboard.
“She is in talks right now. The cast and crew get a kick out of Jenny, she’s a good fit,” a source reveals to Us Weekly.
McCarthy is currently hosting her own VH1 show, The Jenny McCarthy Show, but after a seven-show renewal back in March, the ratings have dwindled and the show is expected to get the boot.
Of the possible new gig, the source adds, “Her show isn’t quite working out so she’s open to it.”
McCarthy began her hosting career way back in 1995 on MTV’s Singled Out. From there, she scored several acting gigs before returning to hosting in 2010 as Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’s Times Square correspondent. On February 18, 2013, The Jenny McCarthy Show debuted. While the show’s first episode received 200,000 viewers, it slid to just 120,000 toward the end of the season.
As for her departure, Behar has told press that after 16 years with the show, it was time to move. “It seemed like the right time,” Behar told Deadline in March after her exit was announced. “You reach a point when you say to yourself, ‘Do I want to keep doing this?’ There are other things on my plate I want to do — I’ve been writing a play, I’ve been neglecting my standup.
Behar added, “I have a lot of friends there, and I will miss everyone I’ve worked with because we have a family there.”
