Jersey Shore’s Angelina Pivarnick Is Back to Make a Political Statement

May 24, 2013 by Mike Siegel

If you thought you had heard the last of Angelina Pivarnick, think again.

The infamous, original cast member of MTV’s hit reality show Jersey Shore has returned from her reign as the “Kim Kardashian of Staten Island” to convince people that she can sing, act and dance: the triple threat. Alongside pop artist and friend Adam Barta, Angelina appeared in a controversial music video for the duo’s new song, Serendipity, which was released this Sunday on Adam’s YouTube channel; and while named after an occurrence of lucky events, the music video’s three minutes and 33 seconds seem to speak otherwise. Coupled with an amateur sound and an inappropriate backdrop of random places throughout New York City, the video does not do Angelina’s potential music career any justice.

The real noteworthy part of the video, though, is not its aesthetic quality. Rather, it is the ending, where bride-to-be Angelina and groom-to-be Adam meet their same-sex partners and share their wedding vows, that make this video so intriguing. Angelina has made it clear that she is one of the many Americans who support gay marriage. Regardless of its entertainment values, the video raises many questions. By engaging in an innocent yet sexually deviant act, has Angelina made it clear that she is one of the many Americans who supports gay marriage? And is it enough to associate oneself with members of the LGBT community to help make social change? Perhaps so, but a political statement via music video will not be enough to help fight for marriage equality.

For a good smirk and a political conversation starter, go check out the video.
