Jersey Shore’s Deena Nicole Cortese To Launch Singing Career
August 27, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Deena Cortese has been flying under the radar since filming the sixth and final series of Jersey Shore last year, but after a year hiatus with little media appearances and press, Deena is ready to get back in the game. During a new YouTube video, Deena has revealed plans to release her own music.
“I know a lot of people look at me as just a one-dimensional TV character, and I love filming and I had so much fun and I know I did a lot of funny stuff and I don’t regret any of it,” Deena begins in the short video clip. ”I think of all the things I’ve accomplished, everything, all of the doors that the show has opened for me — especially this, like, giving me the courage to pursue something that I love and giving me thicker skin.”
After an arrest during the filming of Jersey Shore, Deena was highly criticized for her heavy drinking and bad decisions but once she was released from jail, she seemed to turn things around. While she didn’t say goodbye to drinking all together, she better monitored herself to be sure that she wasn’t going to do anything to outrageous.
“Everyone is going to be like ‘Ugh, she’s just this party girl.’ That was just this one side of me,” Deena explains. “Yeah, I like to party and yeah, I like to have fun, but there’s also this other side I would love to show people and I’m ready to pursue what’s next for me and for me, this is singing.”
While a couple of Jersey Shore stars have went on to do other things such as appear on Dancing With The Stars, create their own clothing lines, or star in their own spinoffs, none of those things were calling Deena’s name. Instead, she was bit by the singing bug and soon, fans will get to hear what she has to offer.
“It took a while for me to, kind of, push myself to do it because I was a little bit nervous about what everyone else was going to think,” Deena continues. “I’m sure there is going to be people that are going to say negative stuff and people that are going to say positive stuff. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was kind of sitting at a standstill. All I could think about was, ‘I really want to sing, I really want to sing.’ Finally, I got the courage to just do it. You know, I had some people who supported me, some people that didn’t. I’m just doing this for myself. I’m giving it a shot, I’m going for it and I’m excited.”
