Jessica Biel’s pink wedding dress covers People Magazine October 24, 2012 for a rather shocking exclusive cover.
Biel is posing serenely to one side, as though posing for her graduation photo, or something more reserved, and her husband Justin Timberlake is jumping around in the background because of course he’s showing his ass on the cover of People, making it all about him.
He’s so distracting that he’s very nearly pulling focus from Biel’s custom-made “petal pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture” wedding gown that probably took months to design, taking a big chunk out of the reported $6.5 million the couple spent on the ceremony. In addition, Timberlake wore a Tom Ford tuxedo he helped design because apparently designing tuxes requires more than one person.
The couple were reportedly paid $300,000 by People Magazine for exclusive access to the wedding which only covers North American rights; they’ll make more selling the photos to international outlets. A weekly magazine source explains to The Huffington Post: “The celebrity market is in a recession too, and A-list stars are no longer getting millions for wedding pictures. In this market, $300,000 is a good price. Plus, that is only for U.S. rights, so they will also make money from selling them to other countries.” For comparison, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas were paid $1 million for the rights to their ceremony by OK! Magazine. Anna Nicole Smith and Howard Stern’s 2006 ceremony sold for $1 million. And, with even more money to throw around at the time, OK! Magazine paid Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher$3 million for access to their wedding in 2005.
“It was a really special evening,” said Timberlake, who serenaded Biel during the ceremony. “It was an original piece I wrote specifically for the evening and for her.”
Biel said of the ceremony, “It was a total fantasy experience.”
