Jessica Simpson $4 Million Postpartum Weight Watchers Deal?

Jessica Simpson intended to package her weight loss after years of “owning it” and, one can deduce, lying about feeling great in her own skin. As recently as this month she spoke about how her weight made her more relatable than skinnier celebrities and her curves had become part of her brand. She told Lucky December 2011: “Everybody fluctuates, but I’m open about my weight and I’m still confident… I got so much scrutiny for putting on extra pounds, but I think that the decision not to make myself anorexic was actually great for branding. Because when you’re really, really skinny, not everybody can relate to you.”
Then she fell pregnant and tried to shill the baby bump photos, but her management was too slow and the $500,000 negotiations fell through. She’s not so great at this. And her timing’s always off.
The weight loss deal that was in the works may be salvaged though, if this new report from Us Weekly is to be believed. The magazine claims that Simpson, sick of lying about how she feels in her own skin, intended to lose the weight for which she’d been mocked over the years in a Weight Watchers deal. Instead, she’s reportedly going to do so over a year, postpartum. Which means she’ll have to lay off the booze, cheap greasy food that she loves etc.
Jessica Simpson won’t give birth until next spring, but she’s already planning her postbaby slim-down. The mom-to-be, 31, is in talks with Weight Watchers for a $4 million deal to shed pregnancy pounds, Us Weekly has exclusively learned.
Simpson… had initially intended to sign with the company to lose weight she had gained over the past few years. “But then she got pregnant,” says the source. “So this was the perfect compromise.”
Under the contract, Simpson would have one year to use the point-counting program to “lose a signficant amount of weight,” says the insider.
She’[ll] then show off her results in ads for the company, much like current spokeswoman Jennifer Hudson.
Despite the deal, Simpson isn’t letting her weight gain get her down. “I’m bigger than I’ve ever been,” she recently told Us. “But I want to show off my bump!” – via Us Weekly.
