ITW: What Name Did Jessica Simpson Choose For Her Baby Girl?

March 15, 2012 by Hollywoodite

In Touch Weekly posits Jessica Simpson’s chosen baby name. It’s probably a fake name, guessed or fabricated by a source, like the weird names people misreported about baby Blue Ivy Carter before Gwyneth Paltrow corrected people on Twitter (people believed random, unsourced Twitter rumours about the name Tiana May Carter, then transposed the real name as Ivy Blue Carter).

This week’s ITW features the baby name report on the cover and claims the exclusive reveal: Maxwell.

“Maxi” for short, reportedly. So, a masculine name for a girl shortened to a type of feminine hygiene product.

Choosing a baby name can be tricky, so it’s no surprise that Jessica Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson were, until recently, at an impasse about what to call their soon-to-be born daughter. “They tossed around a lot of names, including some wacky ones like Zinfandel, but couldn’t agree on anything,” a family friend confides.

“They’re going to call her Maxwell, Maxi for short,” the friend says. Maxwell is Eric’s middle name, and also his beloved grandma’s maiden name. “Jessica wanted a name with meaning.”

And not only has Jessica’s been seen wearing a necklace with a diamond “M” pendant in honor of her little bundle of joy, the couple also already ordered onesies monogrammed with the name! Jessica, 31, is now set to give birth on April 20, three weeks earlier than her original due date. “She’s gained so much weight and the baby is so big that doctors pushed up the date,” reveals her friend. And while the thought of giving birth freaks her out, “Jessica and Eric are so eager to meet Maxwell!” – via In Touch Weekly.

In related news, Simpson registered at Bel-Bambini and will have her shower this Sunday.

Simpson registered at the high-end baby store using her initial and her fiance’s surname, “J. Johnson.” They’re asking for things like “a Diaper Dude messenger bag, an Alma Mini Urban cot/crib, a Baby Bjorn, hooded baby towels, cashmere baby blankets, a wipes warmer, a baby food maker, footies, rompers and tons of other pink baby gear.” And, according to RadarOnline.com, the shower will be hosted at the couple’s Los Angeles home March 18.
