Jessica Simpson: Watch Interview With Katie Couric; Weight Watchers Commercial
Jessica Simpson said at the end of last week that her postpartum reveal would be televised on Katie Couric’s new talk show, Katie, at the same time as her new Weight Watchers commercial.
The idea had been to build suspense. Simpson stopped being photographed in her eight month of pregnancy only to resurface in People Magazine one month postpartum heavily Photoshopped. It was hard to tell how much weight Simpson really gained, because there were so few photos taken during her ninth month. And it was difficult to tell how much weight Simpson lost, because she was only photographed sporadically after she gave birth.
But now Simpson has done her reveal. To little fanfare. Mostly because the 32-year-old diluted the offering when she made a point to be photographed on her way from LAX to New York City, and again right after the show still wearing the outfit from the taping, so everyone already knew what she looked like.
Simpson said during her interview: “I set small goals for myself so that I could achieve them every week. That’s been great. I have lost weight every week, thank God. But I have worked really, really hard… I have to shoot a new season of my show Fashion Star. So, I want to be in all of the pretty dresses and the designer gowns. I am 10 pounds away from that. By the time I am shooting, I will be smaller… but it is not about the numbers. I lost enough weight to where I can pat myself on the back. I had to really stay focused and focus on my diet and just really concentrate on what I’m putting in my body.”
She admits, again, she assumed the weight would be shed with the baby: “I didn’t really think about it. I thought my doctors were telling me that it was just a lot of water and whenever my water broke, you know, my entire stomach would go down.”
Asked about her wedding, she continued: “It won’t be this year. We haven’t had time [to plan]. Maxwell is definitely taking up all of our time. I want to do a really big fun wedding with all of my friends and family.”
Simpson claims she’s lost “over 40 pounds” so far and she credits Weight Watchers because they’re paying her to do so. She has, clearly, lost some weight from her face and waist. That much is apparent from this week’s photo and video. However, it’s not so apparent in the commercial, shot from the neck up like a Vogue cover trying to hide a curvy girl’s shame, the video for which is included below.
The ad is included below with her interview (Note: the ad was apparently filmed a few weeks ago). Also below are photos of her departing from LAX and a photo of Maxwell Drew Johnson’s first bikini as broadcast on Couric’s show.
