Jessica Simpson Covers OK!, Critics Still Calling Her Weight Gain “Fat”
April 4, 2012 by Hollywoodite
Jessica Simpson covers OK! Magazine although, to be clear, it’s a random old photo and a copy pasta interview with no exclusive or new information. But then OK! faked a whole pregnancy announcement, tricking readers into thinking Simpson went to them with the baby reveal when she did not.
OK!’s cover story is odd, and stupidly thrown together. It’s another laboured series of fabrications. Mostly written in the present and future tense, as though Simpson has already given birth, when she’s got about three weeks left. Sister Ashlee was overheard telling a concerned Australian journalist who thought she’d miss the birth while travelling: “I have plenty of time. And I’m going home [Thursday] so it will be fine.”
Simpson’s due end of April, despite some misquided tabloid specualtion that would make her kid a month old already. Simpson’s looked full-term for about half-a-year, which has really thrown people who were comparing hers and Beyonce’s pregnancies. Speaking of which, if memory serves, there was no such scrutiny levied at Beyonce (a little, not a lot). Nor Hilary Duff, who was only weeks behind.
Speaking of her weight, Simpson’s body was discussed on The Today Show where Sarah Palin defended the pregnancy but Simpson was still called “fat,” as Matt Lauer opined that Simpson welcomed the preggo weight criticism by posing in a bikini while thinner years ago then getting naked while pregnant.
The OK! cover reads: “Jessica Simpson Exclusive Details: My First Day As A New Mom. The star opens up about her beautiful girl; Inside her dream nursery; They can’t wait for another baby.” Several things, that’s not her kid on the cover, of course, because she’s still pregnant. Making the point, how is her baby “beautiful” when it’s not born yet. The nursery details are random too, since OK! had no access to the real one.
A source tells the magazine: “Jessica is going to be the most unbelievable mother; she’s taken to it like a duck to water.” Taken to what? Pregnancy? She’s not delivered yet. “She talks to the baby and already feels like she knows her. She sings to her all the time, too.”
