Was Jessica Simpson’s People Magazine Cover Photoshopped?
It would seem apparent that People Magazine did a hatchet job on Jessica Simpson’s exclusive cover.
Simpson covers this week with baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson, who will be one-month-old this coming Friday (and, yes, reading around today, people are really calling the newborn “fat”). Mother and daughter are shown in what looks to be coordinating white nightdresses, as Simpson reclines, angles the child, and smiles for the camera. Although, something is amiss upon closer inspection.
Taking a second to stop cooing, it’s clear there’s something… off with Simpson in the photo. Her face has been messed with, as has her neck, her left shoulder, and the top of her left arm (perhaps even her bust and hands, although it’s hard to tell with them a little obscured). For example, look at the great distance from her neck to her left shoulder, and the same shoulder’s preternatural angles/ squareness.
More specifically, it would appear that People used Photoshop to make postpartum Simpson look slimmer, following a reported 80 pound weight gain (that’s according to ITW, although Simpson says it’s 60 lbs).
It’s not the worst thing that the photo’s been digitally-altered. It’s not as though we’re all new here; this isn’t uncommon. But budget-looking, perfunctory Photoshop efforts from People are rather uncommon. Leave that kind of workmanship to the lesser/ lower-selling magazines.
Here’s another, closer look so you can judge for yourself whether or not you think Simpson’s cover with her baby was Photoshopped. And, to what end? To make her look skinny sooner?
