New Music Video Fails To Impress: John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John Try To Recreate Grease?

December 5, 2012 by Hollywood EM

Looks like John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John are attempting to make some sort of sequel to their 1970s hit movie Grease. The pair just released a music video for their new single, I Think You Might Like It. In hopes of bringing back the Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson that fans fell in love with.

The song is off of their Christmas album that was released on November 13. Yes, believe it or not, they actually recorded an entire new album together which also features collaborations with Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, and James Taylor.

The music video was released today to promote the new album, but unfortunately it might rather deter people from buying the album instead.

The low budget video features Travolta and Newton-John attempting to be romantic, while doing some sort of country dance, as their families dance in what looks like a car dealership.

Many critics and fans have already slammed the video by calling it “creepy” and “awkward”, while Entertainment Weekly actually took it a step further by calling it an “embarrassment.”

On a positive note, the album was created to raise money for charity, which Travolta explained on The Ellen Show today. “All the proceeds go to our charities. And they knew that so, once we told them that it was more impetus to help us,” said Travolta to the host.

Let’s hope the album raises a lot money for their charities, because this video definitely failed to recreate the movie magic that fans were hoping for.

And here’s the video from Grease for comparison, You’re The One That I Want.
