Jon Gosselin tells Oprah: “I don’t really have a relationship with Kate… there is nothing”
The last anyone heard of Jon Gosselin, he was confirming to Entertainment Tonight that he had picked up work as a waiter to make ends meet. Rather than complain about being down on his luck, other than admit it’s been hard to find work, he says it’s been good because he likes working with people. It’s a far cry from being a celebrity who used to wear designer clothes and party on yachts with other celebs. Now, he’s got a simpler life, and he’s telling Oprah all about it in a new interview.
“I don’t really have a relationship with Kate. It’s more texting, custodial stuff,” Jon tells Oprah (via WetPaint). “I wish her the best in all that she does … I don’t really know what goes on in Kate’s house, and she really doesn’t know what goes on in my house.”
“At this point, there is no cooperation, there is nothing,” he continues. “Which is a shame, because it affects me, but it really affects my children.”
“It just became stressful on the kids and became stressful on me,” he explains of their reality show, back when it was Jon & Kate Plus 8. “I saw my kids not growing up normally, like I grew up, and having community.”
He adds, being famous had a downside for the kids, “Yes, they got to travel the world, and yes, they got these fabulous things, and yes, they’ve got trust funds, and they’re taken care of educationally, but developmentally, they have problems with their peers, and they have problems with talking to other people, and they have problems with wants and needs and manners and morals.”
He continues, the show gave him an image problem, “The most common misperception [is] that I cheated on my wife, that I left my family, that I’m a party boy,” he adds. “But my family knows the truth.”
