Juan Pablo Galavis Announced As The Next Bachelor

August 6, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin

Tonight marked the long awaited finale of the 9th season of The Bachelorette. After Desiree Hartsock got engaged to Chris Siegfried in an emotional and dramatic proposal, the next star of The Bachelor was revealed. During the After The Final Rose special, host Chris Harrison announced that Juan Pablo Galavis would star on the upcoming 18th season and fans went wild.

Between his accent and his charm, Galavis quickly won over Bachelorette fans, and the fact that he was a doting father only made him more appealing. When asked during an episode of the show what qualities he looks for in a woman, Galavis explained, “She has to first love my daughter. Second of all, she has to be a good dancer.”

Galavis’ stint on The Bachelor marks the second season in which a single father stars. Jason Mesnick, who starred on the 13th season of the show, met his now wife and mother to his newborn daughter, Molly Malaney, on the series. While Jason first chose Melissa Rycroft for his final rose, he later opted out of the relationship and into one with Maloney. It wasn’t exactly the way things were supposed to happen, but everyone lived happily ever after and that’s what matters in the long run.

One can only hope that Galavis will also find love on The Bachelor, but hopefully, there will be a little less confusion.

As far as filming on the upcoming installment goes, production could start at any time. Last season, Sean Lowe was actually announced as The Bachelor the day after filming began. So, who knows? Galavis may have already met his 25 ladies! Either way, fans will see the new season sometime this January.
