Reports: Justin Timberlake Proposed So Jessica Biel Would Quit Nagging

It appears several tabloids are smearing Justin Timberlake, following Us Weekly’s filler cheating scandal that never was.
According to Timberlake’s grandmother, he proposed to Jessica Biel over the holidays. And everyone from People to Us Weekly were confirming long before that. So, it’s not really a question of whether they’re engaged (unlike Us Weekly and People fudging Halle Berry’s “engagement”… which sources denied on TMZ.com after congratulations from Kylie Minogue, Olivier Martinez’s former-girlfriend by whom he stood through cancer).
But the question of cheating remains. There’s a pretty heated thread on the site about this week’s inflammatory Us Weekly cover with the headline: “Do Cheaters Ever Change: Can she trust Justin? It took a bitter break-up and Jessica’s ultimatum before Timberlake finally proposed. Now her friends are worried he’ll break her heart.”
There are several issues with this headline, not least, as many of you seem to agree, most of the “cheating” rumours were generated by Us Weekly themselves. Moreover, the rumours were mostly of flirting when Timberlake was on a break from his relationship with Biel, or just hanging with female friends like Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, and Olivia Munn (there were some interesting texts between he and Kunis exposed around the time her cell was hacked, but nothing conclusive).
That’s not stopping other tabloids beating this cheating story to death.
ITW claims: ”Justin’s not giving up his freedom. As much as he loves spending time with her, he likes hanging out with the guys too. He sees no reason why he has to give that up.” Which is the theme running through several magazines: Timberlake only proposed to stop Biel’s supposed nagging (like the supposed ultimatum that never was).
The National Enquirer has a longer write-up claiming, literally, Timberlake will string out the engagement so he can enjoy his freedom because the pity proposal served only to placate Biel.
Justin only proposed to Jessica Biel to buy more time as a bachelor!
A source tells The Enquirer, “Justin knew that Jessica would dump him unless he committed to making her his bride, so his proposal was just lip service! He told friends that he has no intention of rushing down the aisle and he only went through with the engagement to get Jessica off his back. Justin says it’ll be at least a year and probably several more before they actually tie the knot.”
“Justin loves Jessica, but he also cherishes his freedom,” continued the source. “He wants to be in a relationship with Jessica, but not necessarily as a married couple. But marriage and kids is the end goal for Jessica, and she told Justin late last year that she’d break up with him for good unless he agreed to settle down with her.”
“Rather than keep dealing with Jessica’s nagging, Justin caved to the marriage pressure.”
Justin reportedly presented Jessica with a custon-designed engagement ring, and she’s already making plans for the big day.
“But Justin fully intends to ride the engagement phase,” the source added. “He wants to remain a single guy as long as possible.” – via The National Enquirer, Celebitchy.
