Kardashian Khroma Lawsuit; Kim Kardashian May Dye Hair Blonde After Wearing $2,000 Wig
Kim Kardashian attended a promotional Halloween event for Midori wearing a $2,000 blonde wig. She posted a dozen photos of her Halloween costume including the wig on Twitter and asked fans online whether she should dye her own hair that colour (she already dyed her hair sandy blonde in 2009, but this wig is more platinum). She wrote: “Kinda loving this blonde wig! Should I dye it for real?”
She told Us Weekly at the same event, she’d consider destroying her hair to explore the nonsensical adage “blondes have more fun.” She explained: “I would go blond! I think it’s fun, you know? I’m going to keep it on for at least a night and see if it’s true that blondes really have more fun.” She does this every few months, she’s looking for attention. She’s not going to dye her hair that light. She couldn’t even stick with the lighter colour for more than a month. Nor could Khloe Kardashian stay red more than a week (in which time it degraded from red to orange). Not least because it’s a breach of their E! contract to do so while filming. So they have to dye it right back.
In other news, Child Protective Services were called on the family regarding Kendall Jenner, 16, and Kylie Jenner, 15. Supposedly, it was a stunt by a tabloid reporter. Social workers and police came to the house immediately following the anonymous call on Friday, saying the girls were in danger, when in fact it’s “ridiculous because Kylie wasn’t even in the country the day the caller claimed she was in danger. She was in the Philippines.” C.P.S. left the scene soon after and the family is tracing the caller’s identity.
Finally, the Kardashians aren’t just shilling caffeine pills as diet pills, selling aerobic shoes with no aerobic benefit, promoting debit cards with illegal fees, stealing accessory designs from better designers and stealing clothing designs from better designers, they’re stealing whole brand names too now.
The girls named their cosmetics brand Kardashian Khroma which Chroma Makeup in Beverly Hills says is “confusingly similar.” It may be too bad, though. Because the girls trademarked their name while the Chroma brand did not.
The Kardashians have been accused of a cheap cover-up, stealing the name of a high-end make-up line and slapping it on their own drugstore brand… so claims the dude who sells the fancy products.
Kim, Khloe and Kourtney are launching Khroma Beauty… a cosmetics line you can get next month at not-so-fancy places like CVS, Sears, and Ulta.
Michael Rey, the co-owner of Chroma Makeup in Bev Hills [says] his brand took 12 years of blood, sweat, and tears to build and now boasts an A-List clientele… but… the Kardashian’s line cheapens his products and creates confusion in the marketplace.
Michael fears his high-end customers will… think their [expensive] cosmetics are not so [high end] after all… and they’ll be embarrassed to say they wear Chroma. – via TMZ.
The Kardashian sisters aren’t backing down in their war with a high-end makeup company… they’ve got a secret weapon to guarantee they’ll prevail in court… trademarks.
The Kardashian girls filed requests to trademark the phrases “Kardashian Khroma” and “Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe” earlier this summer.
The requests are still pending… but sources connected with the family [say] they’re confident they’ll be approved… because the man behind the competing makeup line (named Chroma) hasn’t filed for ANY trademarks.
It’s worth noting… you don’t NEED to register a trademark to pursue trademark litigation. So Rey may NOT be up the creek without a paddle.
And, while [TMZ] were looking up the Kardashian trademarks, we came across another makeup company named “Kroma.”
“Kroma” filed for its trademark in 2010… so that could be another obstacle for the Kardashians.
UPDATE 12:30 PM PT, 10/30/12 A rep for Kim tells TMZ, “Boldface licensing + branding has gone through the appropriate legal channels in obtaining the rights to use the name Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim and Khloé in the Color Category with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. We do not believe that there is any likelihood of confusion between Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim and Khloé and any other entity… We adamantly object to statements about the products quality due to the distribution choice.” – via TMZ.
