Life & Style Lies About Kate Middleton’s “Dramatic Delivery” When She’s Still Pregnant
June 26, 2013 by Hollywoodite
Last week, Us Weekly used the “Dramatic delivery” headline about Kim Kardashian in a boilerplate story written before Kardashian gave birth. It’s tried and tested copy, with the same wording being used by ITW for Jessica Simpson’s first child and the slight variation of “Drama in the delivery room” being used a week ago on Life & Style and “delivery room drama” being used on the cover of PEOPLE. It’s basically low-hanging fruit MadLibs. The same headlines sell, and the fabrication is secondary to whether it KEEPS selling.
The cover of this week’s Life & Style, for example, is about Kate Middleton who is still pregnant and not due for a few more weeks. Although you wouldn’t know it from the nebulous wording on the cover which says “(Dad in training) Kate’s dramatic delivery. Her family and security team rush to the hospital but William’s torn from his wife’s side. All the details of the royal birth.”
Again. Still pregnant and that’s some random person’s baby on the cover, not theirs.
Here’s a teaser from the story: Just days away from giving birth to her first child, Kate Middleton is on edge — and worries that her husband, Prince William, may not be there to witness the delivery. Now, insiders give Life & Style a peek inside the drama surrounding the royal couple, and why Kate’s concerned that William won’t make it to the hospital in time.
