Kate Middleton: Unknown Classmate to Mother of Future King

July 22, 2013 by Emma Reynolds

Kate Middleton’s modest upbringing and quaint lifestyle couldn’t have prepared her for becoming the Duchess of Cambridge, but even more importantly, the mother to the future King. Yet, the Duchess has lived up to her new Royal title with a sense of grace and dignity, proving the perfect fit for the world’s most sought-after public figure.

The arrival of her son with her husband, Prince William, created a frenzy among press from all over the world, and fans alike. For weeks, the press was camped outside the Lindo Wing, where she gave birth to the third heir to the throne. The late Princess Diana also gave birth to sons William and Harry at the Lindo Wing. Keeping the tradition alive, the couple spent hours with their son at the hospital before publicly announcing the birth on an easel outside Buckingham Palace. Kate whose every move has been documented for the past two years, especially so in these past few weeks, snuck into the hospital before 6 a.m. this morning and is planning to spend the night in the hospital for emerging from the doors for the first time with her new bundle of joy, similar to what Princess Diana had done after the birth of William.

But before Kate was part of the Royal family, she was just an unknown classmate at St. Andrew’s, modestly sailing through high-school and college as a field hockey player and Prince William admirer. Kate grew up in a family with successful parents who were unmistakably humble. Her upbringing was one of class, which may have been what attracted William to Kate, and why he found her so suiting to score a Royal seat in the family. William’s uncomparable upbringing is now something that Kate is familiar with, and how their Royal children will be raised. No one could have predicted that Kate Middleton, graduate of St. Andrew’s, would be the mother to the heir of the throne.

It is also rumored that when she attended St. Andrew’s before she knew Prince William, she had a poster of him hanging above her bed. I guess her admiration and devotion paid off. Congrats to Kate and Will, and the new Royal Highness!
