Looks like the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents have the Royal Family beat when it comes to meeting their new grandson!
Carole and Michael Middleton made their first stop to the Lindo Wing where their daughter gave birth to the future King yesterday. The two arrived at the hospital smiling ear to ear for the press, who waits anxiously outside the wing for a glimpse of the the new mom. Carole and Michael are reportedly the first members of the family to visit the royal baby.
Carole and Michael arrived at the hospital at around 3 p.m. and stayed for about an hour to visit their son-in-law and newborn grandson. Carole left the hospital telling members of the press that the baby was “absolutely beautiful” and they are “thrilled.” Though they are the first set of grandparents to meet the new baby boy, the Queen and new grandfather, Charles, have also exclaimed their excitement. The Queen announced that she was “delighted” at the news , and Prince Charles expressed how “enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time.”
It is rumored that the couple will leave Lindo Wing at 6 p.m. tonight, but it could be tomorrow.
All uncertainty aside, the press will be waiting with video cameras and cameras in hand until the Duke and Duchess appear. A live stream is available on almost every international news site, just to be sure the public has a chance to view Kate emerging from the Lindo Wing, as they late Diana did after the birth of sons, William and Harry.
The new couple made a statement today saying, “We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received. We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone – staff, patients and visitors – for their understanding during this time.”
