Kathy Wakile Says Teresa Giudice Thought She Joined The Real Housewives Of New Jersey To Hurt Her

October 1, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin

Kathy Wakile and her cousin Teresa Giudice butted heads when Kathy joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey during the show’s third season. For some reason, Teresa felt threatened by Kathy and Melissa, her sister-in-law, joining the show and claimed that they did so behind her back. However, Kathy feels as though their issues were the result of a simple misunderstanding.

“I think what happened was she misunderstood my reasoning for joining the show,” Kathy explained to Bethenny Frankel during a recent taping of her daytime talk show. “I thought it was going to be a fun adventure. I got a point in my life where my children were grown, it was getting to be the empty nester type of thing, they didn’t need me as much so what am I doing? Then this opportunity came to me, what am I going to say no I am not going to do it because I might ruffle some feathers?”

Kathy continued to explain that Teresa thought she “was coming on there to attack her or to bring her down,” but that was far from the truth. “I tried to be her friend, be the cousin that I always was but that changed things,” she said. “She thought I was coming on to hurt her.”

As the seasons went on, Kathy and Teresa seemed to be getting along much better and although they weren’t as close as either had wished, they eventually veered away from their initial feud.

Hopefully, when the new season begins filming later this year, Kathy and Teresa can further explore their relationship and get back to the place they once were during their younger years.
