Katy Perry Covers InStyle Magazine October 2011 With Pink Hair

September 21, 2011 by Hollywoodite

Katy Perry’s pink hair, circa Gwen Stefani in the mid-90s, covers InStyle October 2011. Perry is perennially on tour, so this interview feels kind of sideways and redundant. But there are some interesting quotes in there. For a start, did you know Perry is “full of unicorns and Care Bears 99 percent of the time”? True story. Moreover, she gives some really interesting insights about starting a family.

On her fashion sense: “I kind of use this inner dial: Either I turn it up or down.”

On whether she’s planning a family: “Not yet. I think if you’re married, it’s often in your future.’ As for her approach to raising kids, ‘I think in the future, the very far future, when I have children, I’ll have a more open approach, setting boundaries and showing them what their decisions and choices will breed.”

On how her make-up’s applied… like most other busy celebrities, she’s made-up while she sleeps: “I ordered a special chair from the dentist so I can lie back and wake up looking like a million bucks. I call it my Sleeping Beauty makeup.”

On her passion for inspiring others: ” want to inspire people to let their true light shine to live a full life and achieve their dreams.”

On her expanding horizons since reaching stardom: “I feel like I’ve gone from living in a 2D world to a 3D world. It’s a product of traveling, having an open mind, and being open in general.”

On her 1940s and ’50s influence: “I take a lot of influence from pin-up girls of the ’40s and ’50s, when everything was done with a wink and a grin.”

On standing up for what she believes in: ‘”I’m not going to sit and be steamrolled. I’m going to stand up against things that are unjust. I am full of unicorns and Care Bears 99 percent of the time, but don’t open Pandora’s Box of that other 1 percent… because it’s there!”

On her passion to push the limits: “I love challenges. In fact, I get off on them.” – via InStyle Magazine.

That’s very telling, right?

She doesn’t seem to want to get tied down to any comments she’s going to regret later or be hassled about monthly until she births a football team. It feels like she’s not being forthcoming to the point of being dishonest about her feelings just so the media will stop asking when she’s going to have a kid. Reading between the lines a little, she just seems to want to start a family when her career’s settled and when she’s ready… not at the behest of the media.
